A massive police operation involving helicopters and boats has swung into place after a person plunged from Sydney Harbour Bridge on Tuesday morning.
Shocked locals watched as low-flying helicopters flew under the bridge to guide search crews in police boats to recover the body from the water around 11am.
Mysterious green dye was also spotted in the water during the recovery mission.
'I just ran across the bridge. A bunch of cops with evidence bags right where there is a gantry outside the footpath,' one eyewitness posted on social media.

Had Westpac police and fire services circling the Harbour Bridge,' said another. 'Also weird green dye in the water. '
About 15 minutes after that starts, a full escort rocks up at the Governors House. Agents jump out of cars and rush in. No idea what's going on.'
Another added: 'There was two choppers (including the Westpac one) doing a very slow sweep of the Harbour around Farm Cove.
'
When I saw the Westpac one I thought they were looking for someone in the water.'
